When you visit Southeast Alaska and combine the originators of glacier helicopter tours with the oldest operating dog sled tour company (Alaska Icefield Expeditions) you get a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Join us as we fly over the lush rainforest, deep blue crevasses and glacier carved peaks as your pilots give you a spectacular flight seeing tour to our Dogsled camp on the Mendenhall Glacier. Here the professional mushers and Alaskan sled dogs will have you driving the team or relaxing in the sled as you take in the awe inspiring scenery.
You will have time to talk with the musher’s or take pictures with the dogs before your helicopter takes you back to our base and civilization. Don’t miss out on this truly Alaskan Experience.
Duration: This tour is approximately 1 ½ hours in length which includes about 30 minutes of flight time and 55-60 minutes at the dog camp. Your time at the dog camp will include instructions on dog sledding, stories about the famous Iditarod race as well as 20-25 minutes of dog sledding. Please allow an additional 45 minutes for transportation to and from the dock, a safety briefing, and outfitting of glacier boots.
Due to security, no carry-on bags will be allowed on the helicopters. A secure location will be provided at the office for storing personal items.
Provided: Glacier Boots.
Note: These tours are conducted under the helicopter Tour Operators Program of Safety (TOPS). These are the best management practices for making your safety the top priority. (Flight routes and landing sites may vary due to weather and glacier conditions.)
We comply with the flightseeing/wildlife viewing practices adopted by the Alaska Visitor’s Association. These guidelines were established to be sensitive to, and insure the continued viability of area wildlife species.
Due to weight and balance limitations, and passenger safety and comfort, we may charge an additional rate to reserve extra space onboard the helicopter for passengers that are above a certain weight.
Guests should wear warm and comfortable clothing. Sunglasses are recommended.· Photo opportunities abound...Don’t forget your camera!
